Common wild flowers including dandelions, clover and selfheal, along with rarities such as meadow saxifrage and eyebright, can become magnets for a wide diversity of bees, butterflies and other insects, as well as supporting other garden wildlife.
When it comes to providing vital nectar and pollen for bees, butterflies and other insects, every flower counts. Your lawn can help provide that feast!
No Mow May is changing the way people manage their lawns, the percentage of those not mowing in May has trebled compared to three years ago. Why not join them and see what flowers you spot in your lawn in 2022?
Take part in Plantlife’s Every Flower Counts survey at the end of May and again at the beginning of July and see the difference you are making on your lawn. Simply count the number of flowers in a square metre patch of lawn and we’ll tell you how much nectar they’re producing and how many pollinators they’ll feed with your own Personal Nectar Score.
This year, Lidl will be featuring Every Flower Counts in-store and online so please do get involved in what’s gearing up to be the biggest No Mow May yet!
